Khya stepped into the physical world back in 2018 of June at Space’s (A post rock band from Nepal) first full album launch “Eye/I” at Club 25 hours, Tangalwood.

The Khya’s who carried the flag of initiation in the physical realm were “Vakhugwara” and “Gajikulu”, two of our most beloved Khyas.

Our reception was met with a lot of good positive energy as Avishek dai, the frontman of the mighty metal band Underside; Nikita Shrestha, the front woman of the band Space played their respective sets wearing/embracing our own Gajikulu.

Since then we have gained so much experience meeting new people, brands, suppliers, various businesses that we are extremely grateful for the steps that have been taken on this journey, not all steps have bore fruit but each step has taught us and structured our values and brought us in-expendable experience. All of this takes us back to the launch day back in 2018 and sometimes we tend to ask ourselves, what if we hadn’t?

After observing a recurring pattern of disbelief among the Nepali community in Australia regarding the unity and togetherness of our people, the initial motive behind the inception of khya was to create a movement that brings together/ strengthens and unifies our community as a whole.

Along the journey, our vision expanded to representing Nepal on a global scale, providing the people with something to be proud of, along with showcasing bits and pieces of our culture by incorporating it into our designs, in a way it helps in promoting as well as preserving our practices and our folklores.

We intend to reflect our own interpretation of this beloved mythical creature with respect to the culture, in an effort to keep the stories we grew up with, alive!
